novalfs26001
MR-73s will not be scrapped - they will be sent to the green line. The MR-63s will be retired. The orange line was chosen to be the first since it is the longest (needs the most trains), the busiest and the one chosen to be the first wheelchair accessible. With the new trains, passengers in wheelchairs will not be required to be accompanied by a station manager carrying ramps to board and leave the train. The cremazie maintenance facility will be retooled to repair the new trains.

emdx
Metro reported today that MR-63s will be saved for display at Exporail and John Flag (Jean-Drapeau) stationHopefully, they will take a whole element so it could be operational (why not a Jeumont, then??? — No, let’s keep the Jeumont on the property as part of an historical train). It will, however, require a shed for storage because the cars are not waterproof; rain would go inside (that’s the **REAL** reason why “the Métro can’t go outside”).Well, one can always hope that they will fit a trolley pole so they can run on the streetcar loop (the cars can take streetcar-like curves — and anyways, two corners of the streetcar loop have — by design — wider curves so they can be taken by less tolerant rolling stock), just like many US trolley museum do with old subway cars…

SMS
Some metro fun for me this morning At Snowdon, when someone was holding the doors, the operator used a novel concept to get the guy to stop it: honking the MR-73 horn At Square-Victoria when I got off and I was looking at the Telecite for the next stop, instead of the T arrow scrolling it was the >>, so I guess that's the beginning of the end for the venerable ol T arrow
kellergraham
Cote-Vertu's North entrance now has a street-level turnstile and OPUS Vending machine. It's an STM machine not an AMT machine. It's for the wheelchair access which apparently will bypass the mezzanine and go straight to the platform. STLfanatic
All of line 2 went down today for a few minutes. At around 6pm to 6:05pm After code 62 was announced to operation central. The mezzanine would be ideal Jean-Drapeau was designed for big crowds. Putting an MR-63 on the Mezzanine would be chaos during F1 weekend, concerts, fireworks, winter carnival, nascar, ... SMS
I don't see how a MR-63 would survive well outside. Anyways there's that nice emergency exit area that they don't seem to use anymore so it can go there.
SMS
I spoke to Carl Desrosiers today, he told me that a metro charter would be feasible actually, and he thinks that it will work on Line 5, my dream. He also told me that the STM plans on saving two MR-63 sets to run on special occasions. So there won't just be a static display sometime, hopefully the Vickers will live on forever! emdx
Turnstile jumping anybody?Well, you can jump the turnstiles, yes, but tell that to the inspecteurs!!!Same for Lionel-Groulx.Actually, no. In Lionel-Groulx, the street level elevator arrives before the turnstiles.I spoke to Carl Desrosiers today, he told me that a metro charter would be feasible actually, and he thinks that it will work on Line 5, my dream. It would be nice to do it with a Jeumont… He also told me that the STM plans on saving two MR-63 sets to run on special occasions. SMS
In other news, what's wrong with this picture (taken 1 hour ago)? I got it! I got an MR-73 on the Green Line in PM Rush! Around 4 pm, direction H-Beaugrand. I know the Angrignon tete de train's run number was 06. It was so awesome to see the pilotage automatique on the green line, it only really starts to pick up true speed east of Beaudry. Unfortunately the slow order is still there east of Berri, and the operator had to hit the brake because he was still in PA when he needed to be in conduite manuel. By far this was the best metro ride I've taken all year.

emdx
Just caught it this afternoon at Place-des-Arts. I spent 20 minutes taking pictures of passing trains from the mezzannine, totally unmolested by employees.

STLfanatic
I saw the video on Youtube last night, and this morning, every Montreal news radio station and TV station was announcing it. The STM said it was this door only, so at-least it wasn't the whole train.
emdx
Some 20 years ago, I saw a door that would not close completely (about 1 foot was left open) also on line 1, and I wrote a letter which I slipped the next day under the Métro operations boss’ office door (yeah, back then you could sneak-up to the Métro boss’ office like that — if you knew where it was). That evening, the phone rings, and it was the Beaugrand garage boss who was very anxious to know more about that…
