The launch of the GPS system is delayed until Spring. Why am I not surprised...

I saw 114 last night and was going to mention it today but you already did. :P I haven't seen any of the other ones for a while.

And the delay isn't surprising because this is Thunder Bay. :D

They have a new route. It's a shuttle between LU and Intercity. According to the sign, it goes between LU and Intercity only. (It said LU <-> Mall ONLY) The display sign said "Lakehead University" and I'm assuming when it gets up to LU it switches to say "Intercity". No one was actually on the bus, and the driver let us all on because it was a bit nippy out. (Only -20, but still, it's nice to be warm.)

And 132 has something wrong with its shocks. Probably worn out ball berings. My grandmothers car has the same problem.

edit: According to the slip that lists the routes, they also have one for ConCollege but I didn't see it. 214 has something wrong with the front right wheel. It was running 1 Mainline this morning and they made everyone get on to 120 at the barns. I think it was just lots of snow build up but it could be anything.

That's good to know. By the way, when do these shuttles run? Where did you get the notice slip? Please post the routing if you know them.

140 spotted, the right front headlight broken.

Edit: and an unknown Orion VI (214?) has its rear desto broken.

The new LFS are still not here... Haven't seen the D40LFs with the roll signs either... (ready for retirement?)

P.S. The TBT website still haven't said anything about the fare hike yet. What the heck are they trying to do...

I saw a D40LF with a roll sign earlier today, so they're still on the road. I can't remember which number it was though. (Saw it out the window, which is a bit too far to see the numbers) They're only replacing three though, and four have signs, so that could be the last one.

I don't think you saw 214 (Unless it was before Thursday) because as far as I know its in the shop. The new LFSs come when the budget is approved. Mid March. They'll probably delivered in April. Before Easter I'd bet but I wouldn't hold my breath. At least by May.

The fare hike doesn't come into effect until the budget is approved either. I'd say that might start in June? They have to give about a month or so to let people adjust their budgets.

I don't know exactly when the shuttles run or where they go (It would feel awkward being the only person on the LU shuttle, and not getting off when it reached its destination. :\) but they probably run in evening when 8 and 9 aren't going to Intercity and I would imagine they stop around 8 or 9. I'm guessing they make 4 trips between about 6:30 and 8:30 with each trip being about 20 minutes.

Also, buses 216(?), 137, and 138 have a clever add for something for "Obey".

"Kids starting to think for themselves? Put a stop to it with Obey. From the makers of WhyBecauseISaidSo". Probably a public service ad or something. I found it pretty funny. The bus hut at the end of Second has a sign similar to this one:

I'm seeing those ads all over TBT. What are they, mind-control pills for teenagers? ;) It's kinda suspicious.

Apparently, it's an ad campaign for Ontario Colleges. This is the first phase.

I made a map of bus routes for Wiki. Its for illustrative purposes, it doesn't break down each branch.

Nice map!

One thing though, are you sure the routing for 6 Mission is right? I thought it turns at the Goverment building, but doesn't go all the way down Anemki Drive. are there new stops there now?

I don't know, that's just how I drew it. None of the other bus stops are straight lines like that. I've never even been on that route. I don't have time to just ride buses willy-nilly all day. :P I'll correct it later.

Go to the General Lounge and there is a special thread about Obay that you might be interested in.

Just took the Mainline twice, all jam packed, and the first one was an Orion VI with a couple of phychos on it. Ready for an artic? :P

I was on Memorial between Stupidstore and Brodie three times today (County Park heading north, Airport to Intercity and Northwood from Intercity to Brodie; I didn't go to Intercity, I just had to get off that crowded bus. On the way to Superstore, at least 45 people were waiting for a ride to Brodie at Intercity.) and each one was quite full. The County Park was standing room only, had to be at least 38 people, and the airport was even worse. The Northwood had about 20, only two people were standing up. But the Mainlines (I took it to and from Brodie) wasn't too bad, I got to sit down both times. (On the way back, someone was bringing down a wheelchair seat and hit the handicapped stop request strip, and said "sorry", but the bus driver didn't cancel it, so I couldn't request a stop and had to yell at him to stop a block past where I wanted him to stop! :< They have to pay more attention.)

Anyway, I'm guessing about 300 people go between Water Brodie on routes 3 and 1 every half hour between 8:30 and 6:40. That's 3,700 people. Almost half of the people who ride the bus are taking the trip between the terminals and by intercity. :\ We either need an artic or increased frequency (or run two buses at once on the Mainline) to decrease congestion. A while back I was on the Mainline and there were almost 60 people on the bus! (And I have been on County Park runs between Hammarskjold and Water that had just as many; sometimes, they've actually had to go out of service because it was too full.)

I think federal law prohibits more than 74 people on a 40' bus.

Oh, and the new livery is scraping off the bottoms of some of the buses. All the more reason to go back to the blue dashed stripe thing.

And I fixed the map. It should reflect that on the earlier post as it is linking directly from Wiki. :P

ALSO, the map of Junot has been updated. 9 Junot - Intercity now runs until 9pm on weekdays, with a 40 minute frequency and goes along its normal route so it probably is making local stops. I saw this the other day, instead of the Lakehead University bus, so I guess that one is gone. I still don't know what Confederation College is and don't know what will happen to Lakehead University. (That sentence sounds funny. :P I'm referring to the routes.) -- according to the properties of the map pdf document, it was altered on the 19th, 6 days after I saw the LU<->Intercity bus. So that must have been a test run?

And read over this again.

No! I hate that stupid blue stripe lively!

Nice work on the route info and map, keep up the good work! (BTW, 1 Mainline ends at Mary/Neebing, not Brown/Frederica...)

Anyways, overcrowding is starting to be a problem in Thunder Bay... (With the new U-Pass and Bike Rack coming up, more and more people will use the transit, which means it'll get more crowded...) Also we need earlier transit service on Sundays, since the bus won't run until 8am in the morning. They should increase the service to start from 6am, and maybe end at 12 midnight.

The blue stripe is a classic!! How can you hate it?? The new one doesn't know what its trying to be. You can only see the bottom fifth of the gay pride eagle! :P

And yes, Sunday service needs to be increased. On Boxing day (Not Sunday but same frequency) 1 Mainline was packed by Intercity.

If the blue stripes were on the Fishbowls, I can live with that. But I don't like seeing that prehistoric lively on a 21st-century-bus like the Novas. It just makes me think that the city's so far behind the trends (It's kinda true, though :))

But the new one is worse! And the blue stripe looks best on novas!!

There is nothing archaic about it!! With a very light blue base it would be even better.

But the current one is just a confused mess.

Whatever...

TBT now has a new P/R, 130 was spotted on Crosstown-Brodie with "GO WOLVES GO!" P/R message on the desto. Keep an eye to see if any more buses have it.

Most of them do. ;) Even the Newflyers and Orions have it.

I don't know what a P/R is.
