Another indoor shot taken by Peter Cox on October 9, 1967. Enjoy!
This bus is a 1959 GM Old Look model TGH-3102.

Here is one of my recent garage pictures, a group of fishbowls. I think it turned out pretty good compared to other garage pictures I've taken.

On my side, I have had a few successes with operators here in Bristol, UK. Not all the yards here are indoor: most are all outdoors bar the workshops and offices.
In January 2006, Service 75 here gained new B7TL / Wright Gemini double-deckers of which delivery started in early December 2005. These were at Hengrove which is 10 minutes drive from where I still work. So one lunchtime I borrowed a vehicle from my employer on the pretext of going to some nearby shops to get some food. Hengrove was, in fact, the destination. I got into the depot and, by observing the 5mph speed limit around the depot, my entry went unchallenged. I also went unchallenged despite stopping in several places to get photos: Photo 1: 5x B7TL / Eclipse Geminis @ Hengrove depot. Taken from within the yard. http://buses.fotopic.net/p23659039.html Photo 2: Outside the Hengrove workshops where, IIRC, there is a "No Parking" sign. http://buses.fotopic.net/p23423660.html 5 months earlier, in April 2005, Weston Depot also took some B7TL / Wright Geminis for Service X1. This was also snapped from within the depot but I used the zoom and didn't go too far in - only about 10 feet. Got the shot but was nearly chased from the yard. The driver who had driven me up on local Service 3 was waiting round the corner so I ran back and got on the bus to go back to the town centre, thereby making a sucessful escape. 3x B7TL / Wright Gemini at Weston Depot. http://buses.fotopic.net/p22744612.html After those new Geminis came to Hengrove, no more new vehicles were delivered until some new single-deckers were delivered to Lawrence Hill depot for Services 8/8A/9/9A. Was invited in by an employee of the depot who is also an enthusiast. He took me in the paintshop where the first of the buses was being painted up. Therefore I got the first pictures of this particular bus: Photo 1: Side view. Note the pink ribbon which First Bristol keep putting on the first vehicle to arrive as part of an order of new buses. http://buses.fotopic.net/p29685887.html Photo 2: Rear view of the same bus: http://buses.fotopic.net/p29685891.html Photo 3: Interior shot of the same bus again: http://buses.fotopic.net/p29685889.html The same employee also gave me a FiretGroup hi-visibility jacket which I still have. I got round to making use of that jacket later as the reminaing new vehicles continued to arrive for the 8/8A/9/9A routes. You can see that these shots were not only taken inside the depot but were also taken before the buses entered service, in some cases, as there are no tax discs on some of the vehicles. 42949: http://buses.fotopic.net/p31205026.html 42955: http://buses.fotopic.net/p31205027.html 42956: http://buses.fotopic.net/p31205028.html 42960: http://buses.fotopic.net/p30790732.html 42961: http://buses.fotopic.net/p30790731.html Anyway, after those turned up there was a lull in new buses until a new operator started up in Bristol. They were Wessex Connect and they started off by taking over 2 Park & Ride contracts for which they ordered new buses. The buses weren't delivered right away so a number of vehicles were hired in from other operating divisions of their parent company. When the new buses did start to arrive I managed to photo the first one from within the depot. Permission was obtained here and the guy I asked was quite happy for me to come in for photos provided I was careful. BX07 AYU was the first of the new vehicles to arrive: Volvo B7RLE / Plaxton Centro BX07 AYU: http://buses.fotopic.net/p41113371.html BX07 AYU was the first of 7 to arive. All 7 are now here. Once these had arrived the 5x VDL DAF / Plaxton Centros that had been on the Park & Ride contract plus 2x MAN14.220 / MCV Evolutions: MAN14.220 / MCV Evolution AE56 MBF http://buses.fotopic.net/p40652402.html left Bristol for a while. Where they went I don't know. In September, Wessex Connect then took delivery of new B9TL / Wright Geminis for the other Park & Ride contract. I know these ain't depot shots but I couldn't get any of the B9TLs in the depot due to work commitments. Here is one of the B9TLs on its own in a red version of the livery carried by BX07 AYU: B9TL / Wright Gemini FJ57 CZG: http://buses.fotopic.net/p44979723.html and here is Centro BX07 KPN next to Gemini FJ57 CZB: http://buses.fotopic.net/p44778759.html And what about those VDL DAF / Plaxton Centros? Well, they returned in late September after two months away but this time with proper destination display equipment: they are now used on services between Central Bristol and U.W.E for which a number of new B7RLE / Wright Eclipse single-deckers were purchased brand-new but the MAN14.220 / MCV Evolution buseshave never returned: VDL DAF / Plaxton Centro YJ07 JJU on ULink with proper destination displays: http://buses.fotopic.net/p45236758.html VDL DAF / Plaxton Centro YJ07 JJU on Portway P&R without proper destination displays: http://buses.fotopic.net/p40424817.html B7RLE / Wright Eclipse FJ57 CYT on ULink, also with proper destination displays: http://buses.fotopic.net/p45236757.html Anyway, I have gone off topic with those last few shots, as they are not in depots, for which I apologise. I think I have written enough as well! Dave -------------------- Dave

Here's my version: 8150 is seen in the morning at Oshawa Bus Terminal: Here's 8118, same location as 8150 except it's in the afternoon: That is probably the first GM Fishbowl in exsistance that I have seen to have a retro-fitted Roof-Top HVAC system. general682002 do you mind if I save the pictures to my hardrive? |

Denver's RTD did a lot like that. Somewhere I have some pics of them lurking on my HD when they were in Denver. Of course, the bus general posted is ex Denver. -------------------- |

The majority of my good indoor shots are of cars or from press conferences - but here are a couple bus shots I have from the MBS Dayton trip. A few others are still on slides.

I took this one today at TTC's St. Clair West Station.
Original:

Number of downloads: 24Brightened a bit in Photoshop:
6272r_brightened.jpg ( 195.9K )
Number of downloads: 26For the original photo I took it in auto mode with the Exposure Compensation at -0.5. I can use Long Time Exposure on my camera but it can only be set to none, 0.7 seconds, 1 seconds, 1.5 seconds, 2 seconds, 3 seconds and 4 seconds. I first tried the lowest one, 0.7 seconds, when I was taking this photo but it became blurry and bright, possibly because I shook the camera a bit. What do you guys think I should try next time I'm taking a photo in an underground terminal? -------------------- |

Not much light inside some of these garages in some parts of thew world, is there.
Not so here in England where it becomes apparent that both electric and natural light is available in the depots. At newer depots the vehicles are parked in the open air (great for taking photos) but, as I discovered on Thursday 18th September, the depot workshops have both types of light. These photos were taken at the Hengrove Depot of my local bus operator First Bristol. Consent had been obtained before I went inside the workshops: first from the depot's Duty Supervisor and then from the Duty Workshop Supervisor. ![]() First Bristol 37587 (WX58 JWU) ![]() First Bristol 37591 (WX58 JWZ) ![]() First Bristol 37592 (WX58 JXB) The vehicles in these photos are all brand-new and have not yet entered service at the time of writing this.
