Hi, is that Luminator simulator still up on the web? I tried clicking on the link, but it leads to a non-existent page...

I fixed the link. I might try to improve it soon, now that I've learned a lot more about visual basic.

Based on TransLink's Horizon signs:

This font seems to be front destination font.
This one seems to be the front route number and P/R text.

[Still need to work on it to make the pixels match up.]

Awh I miss the days when Burnaby had the D40LFRs. :(

Sorry for bringing back an old thread, but I've recently been doing some touch ups to the fonts that Denny Yip and I have been working on for the past few years, and I can happily say that they are pretty close to being finished. I just have to check for any small errors and then I can release them for download so you can make your own signs. The fonts I hopefully will be releasing are identical to that of Luminator's Matrix Max, Mega Max, and Horizon destination signs. All characters were based off of the many photos we went through of TTC destination signs, as well as signs from other transit agencies. One plus for the Matrix Max font in particular that TTC doesn't use widely is that it includes lowercase letters, something I believe ETS does use on its Matrix Max signs. Of course, there may be errors still present after I release the fonts, so if any updates have to be made to them, I will upload the updated versions of the fonts if necessary. Many thanks to those who have contributed necessary information, graphics, and photos to make these fonts possible.

Without further ado, here are some previews, showcasing the exposure for TTC's route 90A Vaughan:

Mega Max Font:

Horizon Font:

Note that animated scrolling signs, such as in the Matrix Max and Mega Max signs, are best viewed in Mozilla Firefox.

Anyway, I hope to post these fonts in the near future, so stay tuned.

I've tried and tried but I just cant do it.

Try to design one on Paint (or MS Paint, same thing) and go to www.iaza.com

You should now be able to do something like an Axion sign. :)

And here is the first font set. These fonts depict the Luminator Matrix MAX signs, such as those found on TTC's GMs. There are three fonts:

Posted Image

Luminator Matrix Max A.ttf
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AMST8W8B
Posted Image

This font includes bolded capital letters, bolded numbers, bolded misc. characters, and unbolded capital letters. Space width is equivalent to three blank columns of flip dot pixels. All except five misc. characters have one blank column of flip dot pixels after the glyph.

Luminator Matrix Max B.ttf
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PAUZQQZP

This font includes bolded capital letters, unbolded numbers, unbolded misc. characters, and unbolded lower case letters. Space width is equivalent to three blank columns of flip dot pixels. All except five misc. characters have one blank column of flip dot pixels after the glyph.

Luminator Matrix Max C.ttf

All except five misc. characters have one blank column of flip dot pixels after the glyph. Some misc. characters are different in this font that in font B.

And here is a blank 7x90 Matrix Max sign graphic that I use to make the signs on Photoshop. Just adjust the font size to match the size of the flip dot pixels. The overall width of the text you enter may need to be adjusted slightly to ensure that all flip dot pixels line up.

All above fonts were designed by myself and Denny Yip. Thanks to all those who provided photos and information to help make these fonts possible. I should note that the majority of the misc. characters were "made-up" and may not correspond to how they actually look like on the signs. Updated versions of the fonts will be uploaded if necessary.

Enjoy!

Well, I've recently started using Visual Basic 6, and came up with this;
Posted Image

As of now, you can type a code with the keypad, press enter, and change the text on the ODK. I have no idea how these ODKs work, so no other feature works. If anyone knows how these work, I need a little help.

Also, if anyone wants to try a beta version of it, you can download it http://tc40102n.co.n.../luminator1.exe.
Codes:
1 - Nothing
2 - Sign Test Program
3 - Out of Service - www.grt.ca
4 - Chartered
5 - Special
6 - Special Event
7 - Training Vehicle
8 - Bus In Tow
9 to 15 - Random GRT destination signs

This is like the coolest thing ever! Have you found out more about how they work? I'm posting a link to NYCTF. There are a few tech guys over there that may be able to help.

Any chance of re-uploading these fonts to a different host, since Megaupload is in Mega-doodoo?

Thanks, but it appears the forum is shrinking the attached images to 1600px tall, making some of the fonts unclear (especially the smaller ones).

Fortunately, I was able to find them on Flickr. Hope you don't mind me sharing the links.

For everyone else, to get to the full-res images, once you're on Flickr, click on "...", click on "Show all sizes", click on "Original", then click the link to download.

By chance would anyone happen to have the Luminator IPS v3.6 or up that I could get a copy of? I've acquired a MegaMax 2K front sign (bloody heavy thing), pending the arrival of the rest of the cables/controller, and would like to get a head start on creating exposures from scratch. PM me please. Thanks.
