Probably U-Lift. You might be see them build for their 93 Orion.

It's also a good thing St. John's are keeping HF, mainly the snow and the big hills.

I think the tender referrs to a bus hoist to be used in the garage for maintenance.

Gray tools makes a really slick wireless battery powered portable wheel mount hoist that would fit the bill nicely.
We've got one at malvern-works great, very versatile.

Exactly, the NB is a dead give a way wink.gif. Didn't realize that it was supposed to be spelled out as Saint vs St. as we usually do out west, and the title does say BUS lift, so where wheelchair came from is a surprise to me...

That got me confused very quickly.

Should have added a more detail on new bus lift hoist!

Cannot fathom how you could possibly suffer from any confusion at all, as my only error was not spelling out SAINT, which is rather uncommon out west, "NB" is the officaily recognized abbreviation for New Brunswick, "NF" is the abbreviator for Newfoundland, thus unless Saint John has moved to Newfoundland the problem rests with the reader.

As for details, I will post what I can find when available. As no model number or manufactuer was suggested, NO DETAILS are available, where do you suggest I locate unavailable details?

FYI, here is the tender announcement verbatim

This is a tender notice only. In order to submit a bid, you must
obtain official tender documents from the New Brunswick
Opportunities Network, another authorized tendering service or as
indicated in the tender notice.

Award of contracts: no contract shall be awarded and no payment shall be
made to a vendor unless authorized by the Minister or his delegates. The
Minister may make an award to the preferred vendor conditional on the
negotiation and acceptance of a detailed contract between the Province and
the vendor. In such cases, should the detailed contract negotiations not
be completed in a reasonable period of time, the Province reserves the
right to discontinue negotiations with the vendor and subsequently enter
into negotiations with the second preferred vendor.

A bidder must obtain official bid documents from a distribution service,
authorized by the Minister of Supply and Services, in order to submit a
bid. The current authorized distribution services are the New
Brunswick Opportunities Network (NBON) (operated by the Department of
Supply and Services, Province of NB), BIDS (operated by Tender

For procurements which are not subject to the provisions of one or more of
the interprovincial procurement agreements, the Province of New Brunswick
reserves the right to apply Provincial or regional Preferences, consider
local content in the evaluation of bids and/or refuse to consider bids
from vendors from other jurisdictions when it is considered to be in the
best interests of the Province. When determining the use of these
conditions, the Province will consider, among other factors, the extent to
which New Brunswick vendors have access to equivalent procurement
opportunities in those jurisdictions and the treatment accorded by those
jurisdictions to bids from New Brunswick vendors. The Province will be
the sole judge of whether these conditions will be used and the extent to
which they will be applied.

Wikipedia claims NF used to be used in the past. Given that mike from edmonton is older than most on this board, I'm sure NF was used in his time... tongue.gif

Thanx Martin & Cap'n, YES old school to say the least, remember the old number code and province abbreviations? Edmonton 73 Alta yuck!

Educate as many of us westerners? well since time is the most valuable commodity on earth, and we are pretty busy out here in the colonies, have greater distances to travel etc. we tend to move faster and take short cuts. IE: St. Albert is never spelled out as Saint, Fort McMurray is usually Ft but in talking it is Fort Mac. So abbreviations are mostly a regionally thing lord thunderin' jesus eh?

As for the garage hoist, well a few of us check out tenders/notices and post what we find. As there are few members from the Maritimes so thought I'd post what I found, hell I do if for anything of interest I find (like Winnipeg radios). Why some people thought a 27,000 pound capacity (10.629kg) lift (hoist to some) was a wheelchair lift is beyond me, lordy that's 13 and a half tons. The interesting thing is they are going to a 4 post from a 6 post lift. Did they even have artics there?

Maybe they just want to have that flexibility for the future. It only makes sense.

The notice/abstract/whatever is much like what Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC, my employer) calls a Notice of Proposed Procurement (NPP). Usually the NPP contains a brief summary of the requirement. The tender document, usually a Request for Proposal in a case like this, contains more detailed specs. MERX (www.merx.com) allows potential bidders to preview the bid document in PDF format (et naturellement dans la langue officielle de leur choix) before deciding whether or not to download the bid package. Only a download constitutes a response to the solicitation, previewing does not. An Award Notice is automatically posted on MERX when a final contract is awarded.

For sole-source requirements PWGSC posts an Advance Contract Award Notice (ACAN) on MERX. An ACAN states our intention to negotiate the requirement with the supplier named in the ACAN, for the reasons stated therein. Other suppliers who may feel they too can meet the requirement can "challenge" the ACAN; PWGSC must then decide whether to open up the requirement to competition, or continue with negotiations as planned.

Actually they are going FROM a 6 post (replacing) down to a 4 post (new lift), so I was wondering if they had artics in the past

Mark, I actually posted a reply about MERX on the Winnipeg Radios thread below, as there is no point is reposting it here:
