IFor all of the bus drivers out their is there a perticular bus you just hate driving and you get stuck with it all the time or maybe you were told by a bus driver which buses are pains to drive if so please share with us. Also maybe there might be a route that is a pain to drive if there is please share that as well.

I was on the 2 King in Oshawa last night and I was talking to the bus driver and she said she hates driving 8411 she says she doen't know what it is that makes it so hard to drive but she just hates driving it. By the way 8411 is a 2007 New Flyer D40LF

She also told me she hates doing the 1 Simcoe on saturday because she finds it hard to meet up with the 2 King and 11 Grandview Downtown when she is driving southbound because the 2 and 11 never wait. for the Simcoe. the 6 Dean is usually the first one Downtown now.

According to my friend and other TTC operators the Nova RTSes are the least liked buses at TTC's Arrow Rd Division. The 35 Jane and 36 Finch West are the least liked routes there as well because of the passengers that use them, the students usually give the drivers trouble. 35 and 36 are usually left for the Rookie drivers at Arrow Rd.

A GO Transit driver told me that she got back problems after riding their Orion Vs down the Newmarket 'B' route due to the continuous 'stop-and-go' the route endures from passengers, traffic and lights.

Makes me wonder how Viva drivers can do it...

More and more transit system are sticking to LF because of economical issues! Where as HF, it will be a rare to see in much future times!

As of April 2009, I have finally rode Nova Classic T-drive, two types of different engine! Which ones is better? Series 50 all the way man!

2010 Charter: Not alot for me to attend as I'm working on a weekend!

Many drivers in Toronto love them from what I've heard, especially the Hybrids.

I think that anyone who doesn't drive a bus for a living should refrain from further posting in this thread.

I think you should think twice about that statement rolleyes.gif .

Drivers I know in Brantford hate 9941 and 9725 because their so slow. 9941 is a 1994 Orion V and 9725 is a 1972 GM New Look. On the other hand they seem to love driving the Novas.

Hmm... they complain about how slow the buses are? We've got slow buses here in Calgary, but that doesn't bother me at all since I am paid by the minute. If I am late finishing, I book the overtime! :-p

Wait til you're a driver for BC Transit and have to deal with Dennis Darts everyday..........they're noisy in a way that the noise is irritating and slow tongue.gif

Why exactly? So we can have yet another thread about the kiddies complaining about Orion VII's/LFS's/etc? Yet another thread about things that many people here know nothing about?

Heaven forbid that we actually have a thread that has a little intelligence for a change.

I think any person on this board has some sort of knowledge on Buses, Trains etc and they should be allowed to post what they want in the sense that it is appropriate and they should feel good about posting a new topic and should get the same respect as any other topic on the board

As for stuff related to this topic.

How are the Classics in other cities I know for a fact that the Classics that we have here in Durham are great mechcanical wise. As for appearance wise they good use a good cleaning and rebuild expecially 8319 and 8317 the two better Classics in Durham

People who voice their opinion as a rider who know no drivers and have never driven one, posting their opinion merely based on the ride they take on the bus everyday ... those people should not post. Many of us know drivers personally and as friends and, guess what, they aren't soulless human beings who drive the bus, they can talk! They can also tell us how they feel about certain buses. I have never driven a bus, but I know several drivers here who do every single day. Your statement is frankly, discriminative.

I don't drive, but I've heard drivers complain of driving RTS'. Not surprising, given the wrap-around cockpit. Stylish at the time, but bad for belly room...

Agreed, lol...

This topic was started asking drivers who are members, how they like driving which buses. Yes, many members have extensive knowledge about buses, but do they know exactly what a driver knows, and how the full operation of a bus works? Doubt it. Even I dont know EVERYTHING there is to know, yet i've been working in the transit industry for quite some time now...

Anyone is free to start up another topic regarding members, and which buses they like riding. It all comes down to "a bus is a bus". smile.gif

Simply, this thread is already off topic, and it appears it is not attracting who it needs to attract...

In Mississauga, drivers favour the New Flyers, which are 2003 and newer. Even the agency itself favours newer buses (obviously), by labeling everything 1993 and newer as "good buses." The Orion VIIs are the drivers' nemesis, for several (possibly obvious) reasons.

Many drivers have doctors' notices requiring them to ONLY drive 03 and newer, other notices prevent them from driving the Orion VIs. The (and I say this from personal experience) legroom in those is severely restricting to anyone over 5'8 or so, while all the other buses are comfortable.

Kyle's point was that it should be fine to post what a driver has said about different buses as it is pretty much the same if the driver posted it directly here. The opinion is still comming from a person who drives buses, but is beeing posted through a person who has had the opinion told to them. The initial post asked drivers, not just drivers on the board.

Yeah, I think that can be arranged at any system. Those notices can be written up by doctors stating that drivers can only drive "---" series buses, etc...
