Just looking for an update. Does anyone know if any Regina buses are scheduled to be retired this year? Any photos available of those on the hit list? My source says no, not this year, they need them for expanded service levels -------------------- |

None are being retired as of yet. In fact, Regina Transit bought 3 GMC Fishbowls from Saskatoon Transit and 3 Orions from Moose Jaw Transit. Regina Transit is short on busses and the new Novas they are waiting for is on backorder.
And on a sidenote, bus 506 has been repainted in the 1970's vintage color in preparation for the centennial in 2011.

And I see #506 has also had TDH-5303 (Or like model) Side Marker lights installed on her along with an older GM Name Plate! VERY NICE! I think I need to get out there very soon again! If they got the 3 Orion V's from Moose Jaw Transit, I wonder if they will stay around for awhile once the new order of Nova's arrive! Two of those Orion V's are 1994's and one is a 1996, so they are not that old at all. Are they repainting the Orion V's and Saskatoon Fishbowls into Regina colors? -------------------- For the time being, my website has returned - http://www.busdrawings.com

I assume it will be in service as, 2011 is still away off! I'm afraid that I think Regina has almost might have already out done Edmonton for their centennial! -------------------- |

I'm wondering if somebody would happen to know which Saskatoon Jimmies were bought, or if we can get the serials (last 6 are fine) The colours are correct but not for a 5307N, they came in blue. Also, the fleet numbers used to be in a script style of lettering, then were replaced with black on white stick on fleet numbers when they were renumbered in the 70's -------------------- |

It will be in service for just a short time initially I believe, but I have no timetable on that, sorry. As for the used busses they bought, they are just putting a dark blue stripe on the side, so in the case of the Saskatoon busses, they are still green and it looks funny with the blue stripe. I can't wait to see how orange, cream, and dark blue look on the Moose Jaw ones.

I am guessing at least two would be like that one. So I am even more curious if you guys got the one Orion I bus that MJT used to have which is pictured below. ![]() This one was built in 1987 while the Orion V's were built in 1994, 1996. -------------------- For the time being, my website has returned - http://www.busdrawings.com

I believe they have both types of Orions bought. I know they dont all look quite the same, so definitely different models/years. Don't recall the details of which one exactly though yet. None of those are on the road yet.

The high floor Flyer would be 22. Intersting stuff! Well, If they got #13, that bus is the New Flyer High Floor D35 unit that Moose Jaw picked up second hand within the last 4 to 5 years. Wow! Hmm... #12 - 1996 Orion V 05.501 #13 - 1988 New Flyer D35 #21 - 1987 Orion I 01.508 VERY Interesting IF that's what they got! A trip out to Regina and Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan MUST happen very soon!!! -------------------- For the time being, my website has returned - http://www.busdrawings.com

VERY Interesting IF that's what they got! A trip out to Regina and Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan MUST happen very soon!!! Moose Jaw have wipeout all of their HF buses, so this freed all their spare buses. Would this be the 2nd system in Canada to become all LF? -------------------- More and more transit system are sticking to LF because of economical issues! Where as HF, it will be a rare to see in much future times!
As of April 2009, I have finally rode Nova Classic T-drive, two types of different engine! Which ones is better? Series 50 all the way man! 2010 Charter: Not alot for me to attend as I'm working on a weekend! My Youtube video: www.youtube.com/general682002 My photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27668078@N07/ |

Well, if you think about who's the current manager at Regina, it's not really surprising... And now I want to go to SK too... LOL! Never said I was surprised! I said it was VERY interesting! :-p And I am very happy about this! Moose Jaw have wipeout all of their HF buses, so this freed all their spare buses. Would this be the 2nd system in Canada to become all LF? Possibly? But quite a few BC Transit Small systems in British Columbia are fully Low Floor for several years. -------------------- For the time being, my website has returned - http://www.busdrawings.com

Here's another pic, sorry but it is bad quality, but it shows 2 of the Moose Jaw busses. WHOOOPS! correcting my error - so thanks Martin!.. Edit: The first looks like it is #12 which is a 1996 Orion V 05.501 and the second one is #13 which is a 1988 New Flyer D35 (Originally from Santa Cruz, California). Thanks so much for your photo as that helps very much! I guess if we could find out which Fishbowls came from Saskatoon, that would be great too! -------------------- For the time being, my website has returned - http://www.busdrawings.com

VERY NICE!! The first one is #21 which is a 1987 Orion I 01.508 Ummm... the first one is an Orion V. Not only the the front lacking the roundish profile of the Orion I, but there's also black around the destination sign. Sure hope that they do have #21 though! That's... interesting... that they picked up the D35. Rare bus, although, probably in good shape. I would have thought that #22 would be in good shape as well. I believe in 2002 when we were there the bus was out for rebuild. -------------------- |

Now Regina Transit bought Moose Jaw's old #10, a GMC Fishbowl. It's definitely true that Regina Transit is really in need of more bus's fast.
