Thanks for the update. I WAS gonna go to Vancouver to check out the Flexity Streetcar but I may just go east instead if the Classic Artics are dropping! Do they see weekend service at all or just mon-fri?
They do see sat service sometimes on the 20 and 10 if you plan on comming down let me know I will check and see where they are so you will have a better chance of seeing them.

About the Classic artics . . . of the routes that they run on, are they big student routes where it passes by colleges or universities? If so, are the artics on the line when school isn't in session? The reason I ask is that I may come out to Halifax in the 1st week of May as Im off that week and to co-incide with YUL weekend the weekend previous (and the weather should be a little nicer too!) Just wanna come out to visit when these buses are FOR SURE in service!
Thanks.

just to give you an update on those arctics, they do run all year round, the normal routes they are on are: morning rush hour route 59, route 34, route 33, route 10, route 20, and route 80. During the off peak hour one is on the route 68, route 10, route 20. evening rush hour is route 10, route 84, route 33, route 20, route 80. On saturdays they are usually on route 20, route 10 and sometimes route 80. now for arctics in service, bus 703, 704, 705, 706, 707, 709, 712, 713, 714, and come next week 715 and 716 (newflyer de60lf hybrid) retirements are 708, 710, 701, 711, awaiting repair is 702.

Where did you find out that 715 and 716 are comming next week? I have been asking around work and no one has be able to give me a firm answer as to when they will be out.

Anyone planning to go in April, keep me posted... I will be free the entire month and may see fit to making a trip to Halifax before I leave overseas for the summer.

The new pick starts this sunday, so the two hybrids are most likely going to be on the 1 spring garden. Right now one of the arctics is back from 3M after getting the hybrid clean air wrap on it (716) i believe 715 is gone to get wrapped as well. But all in all the two buses will be on the road very soon. they are basically ready to go.

I'll be taking a trip to HFX either end of March / begining of April or in June. All depending on what happens to the classic artics in the next few weeks.

We where told we have to be trianed on them first and that they have to be brought down to city hall to be Unveiled to the public. I for some reason can not see that happening till the snow is gone.
But then again I could be wrong as I had no idea that they where wrapping them lol ( I am kind of disappointed that they will have them wrapped the livery looked nice on them, and would have been nice to see a classic Artic with the new livery beside one of them out on the road)

I've seen artics on the route 68 during off-peak before, but I'm wondering just how often this occurs. Is there a specific reason why they would put an artic on a route like the 68 in the middle of the day?

They sometimes put the artic on the 68 miday the reason is that the shift that does that ends up doing the 10 later on. I have done that shift before and have gotten a New Flyer ( it really depends who is giving the buses out in the morning)

I have confirmation 715 and 716 will be on the road starting Tuesday. They will be on the 10,1,9,19
So Monday to Friday you will find them on 10 and 1,9,19 ( mostly the 1) they will be out from 6 am till about 7 pm
Sat they will be on the 10 and the 1 they will be out from 6 am to 6pm on the 10 and the 1 11am to 12 midnight.

The wrap on 716 looks great so I wouldn't worry about that. As for its uses, I'd expect to see them on the 1 more often than not. They get insanely busy on Saturdays (with only 15 minute service and no 20 to downtown), or any day for that matter.

Lately, Saturdays have seen one artic on the 10, another on the 20, and one on the 80 for some odd reason.

The body wrap takes away the nice shapes the bus has. It's cool that it says it's a hybrid but it just looks goofy in this case.
