Updated the list today, Saint John Transit now has 2 Nova artics. (possibly ex-demo)

Indeed, both appear to be ex-demos:

Not sure how many we have here in Montreal. It's got to be at least 50 so far, with more on the way. We have 29s 072 - 121 in service this far, minus 29s 087 & 098. Also, 29s 117 and up all have new specs, which include digital run boxes, full-length side displays, new seats, and PA systems. Has anyone else has spotted 3rd gens with these new specs running with other transit systems?

Also, 29-804 was the first Nova Artic to enter service yesterday. It was running on route 69 Gouin all day.

I rode a GRT 3rd gen yesterday, and I must say, I don't see what's so good about them.

The engine on the 3rd gens, at least in the GRT ones, are MUCH louder than the 2nd gens (not sure about the *cringe* 1st gens, as I've avoided them for now). Not to mention, sitting at the back taking a video of the ride, I had to plug my ears for most of the video, as it was just too loud.

Also, the rear door clicking noise (interlock?) is MUCH louder on the 3rd gens than the 2nd gens. While the 2nd gens sound like a simple click sound, the 3rd gens sound like a *BANG* sound when the bus accelerates (and comes to a stop). I found it okay at first, but as the ride progressed (I was on the bus for about 45 minutes), I got very annoyed.

Overall, I'd stick to the 2nd gens anyday (except the 24xx). The only good thing I like about the 3rd gens, perhaps, are those InSight seats at the rear (I can't stand Aries seats as I have back problems).
For those keeping track of the YRT repaints see THIS post.

According to STM figures, there could be as many as 231 40-footers delivered in 2009, of which 160 should be 3rd gen (29-072 to 29-231?). Plus the 58 artics of which 4 have been delivered already.

Would it be possible to update the list, since the 3rd Gens 40 ft. Novabus L.F.S. from the R.T.C., #0922 to #0936 are currently being delivered. A few of them are now at Prevost Car in Saint-Nicolas.

Well, #0924 was parked outside there, on Sunday. I was assuming that a few others were maybe there now. Though, none of these are at R.T.C. Garage yet. Anyway, we can say that the 3rd gens are currently being delivered since #0924, was there. :)

I have to agree about the noise, unfortunately the muffler is now around the housing similar to the Invero.

As of the interlock, loud metal vibration similar to RTL 09 LFS.

Nice thing about the 3rd gen is majority of the mechanics which now it's easier for them to access through during repairs and the proper weight balance.

More and more transit system are sticking to LF because of economical issues! Where as HF, it will be a rare to see in much future times!

As of April 2009, I have finally rode Nova Classic T-drive, two types of different engine! Which ones is better? Series 50 all the way man!

2011 Charter: Able to manage to attend as there are some good ones to go for!

I have only rode rode on STO's 3rd gens and I have not noticed the engine being any louder than that on a 2nd gen. However, I have noticed that the transmission is more audible now so maybe thats what you are hearing. The sound of STO's doesn't bother me as I am a fan of Voiths but I know GRT ordered their's with ZF so thats a different story.

Beh... Voith transmissions make LFS sound unnecessarily weird. STM's thirdies have ZF. In fact, pretty much everything we have has ZF, except for the Classics, which have Allisons.

Hmm... Thunder Bay's 3rd gens, which is (supposed to) arrive by next week, have Allison transmission, so should be interesting to hear what they sound like.

I don't know about the "early" ones, but the TTC's one did come with an Allison transmission.

Yes, STM's 1st gens. LFS do have Allison B400R5.

In the Novabus L.F.S., when you order Allison Transmission, it's always Allison B400R (Not only for the STM first-gens). :)

I believe what you mean is that the Allison Transmission is standard on the LFS with other transmissions being 'optional' or 'offered'.

The standard for LFS is ZF, however if you want Allison, B400R is the only option available.

Correct. When STM got their first LFS in 1996, they were offered Allison because Nova won't charge them to cost money.
