West Vancouver 1995 New Flyer D40LF Charter - October 2012

20 August 2012 - 04:16 PM

Dave had done some initial planning for this charter earlier this year but nothing ended up happening. I've since contacted WVMT and have decided to proceed with the charter!

Date: October 6 or 7th (leaning towards the 7th)
Vehicle: West Vancouver 1995 New Flyer D40LF 965
Pickup: 11:00am Outside of the West Vancouver garage in North Vancouver
Drop-off: 4:00pm Outside of the West Vancouver garage in North Vancouver (drop off also in Downtown)
Fare: $30/person if 24 people attend
Itinerary: TOP SECRET

West Vancouver has increased it's rates since the Orion I charter ($125/hour), but I've done my best to create an exciting route within a 5 hour time period to give us the "best bang for our buck". It's also because of this rate increase we will NOT be doing a lunch/snack stop. I encourage people to use the bathroom before boarding the bus and to bring a light snack/drink with them.

Parking: There's plenty of free on-street parking in North Vancouver around the garage.

I'll update this post with more information later tonight.

Valley Express D40 Charter - Ferry Adventures

29 May 2012 - 04:11 PM

For quite a few months I've been planning out the next big Valley Express D40 charter and today I've put together two options. I will warn people, the costs are a bit higher than a typical charter but if you read you'll find out.

Option A - Victoria, BC

We'd be taking the 1991 New Flyer D40 over to Victoria for a trip. I know a lot of people have been asking about this one and I've constantly pushed the idea to the side, why? cost. Taking a car on the ferry is pricey, nevermind a 40' transit bus with 20+ passengers! Well, if we get enough people on board we can take the bus over to Victoria for the day. This trip would be Sunday June 24th (last chance to use CoastSaver sailings).

I'm not going to work out a trip plan, yet, but costs would be about $50/person with a minimum of 20 attendees. This cost covers fuel, drivers, bus/passenger ferry fares, and the reservations with BC Ferries.

(People attending this charter from Victoria will be offered a discounted fare)

Option B - Sunshine Coast

This one isn't under such a time crunch, but I still need to gauge interest. We'd be taking the D40 over to the Sunshine Coast for a day. Costs on this are much lower but I still need a minimum attendance. I'm not eating the cost of a $450 ferry ride :P This even would be sometime during the Summer, most likely in early June.

Fare of this would be $35 with a minimum of 20 people. Once again, this includes fuel, drivers, bus/passenger ferry fares, and the reservations with BC Ferries.

So, let me know and I'll see about getting some more concrete plans in place
