All Members of the Canadian Public Transportation Discussion Board Must agree to be bound by these guidelines. Failure to do so will result in potential termination of accounts (refer to the Remedies section of this document). It is the responsibility of the ALL MEMBERS to read this document.

SECTION I: GENERAL POSTING GUIDELINES
Respect All Members - Be an active listener. Respect what others have to say while giving others a chance to have their say.
Act Appropriately - A professional demeanour can come a long way. Treat others the way you wish to be treated. Personal attacks or extreme criticism of another’s opinion is not appropriate.
Use of Language - Use proper language when posting. Political correctness is important to avoid potential offensive comments.
Show Sound Reasoning - By citing personal experience and/or research, your messages will be understood by a greater number of users.
Don’t be Afraid to Participate - Be free to participate fully by sharing your own views, while encouraging others to do the same. Every voice matters!
Stay On Topic - Take reasonable care to ensure that topics fit the scope of the particular topic. Contact a moderator if you have posted in error.
Report Posts - All members are asked to be vigilant and report any misbehaviour to the moderators. You may do so using the “REPORT” button that is on the left column of each message that is posted on the board.
SECTION II: SPECIFIC GUIDELINES - THE FOLLOWING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
Name Calling - Disrespectful language and attitudes.
Strong Statements - Making strong statements with no explanation or rationale.
Language - Vulgar, obscene, discriminatory, or dehumanizing language.
Irrelevancy - Posts that do not relate to the topic being discussed.
Threats - Threats of bodily or other personal harm that is clearly stated and/or implied.
SECTION III: TECHNICAL GUIDELINES
Post Once - Take reasonable care to avoid posting the same message or similar idea more than once. Contact a moderator if you have posted a duplicate message in error.
Posting Replies - When replying, please take reasonable care to use the ADD REPLY button. This reduces the overall length of a particular thread. Or, you may remove/delete any text manually that is not required when replying. In addition, should you wish to quote a user, please use the "QUOTE +" button (quote button--use this before using ADD REPLY).
Posts Containing Errors - Take reasonable care to correct any errors. You should edit your posts instead of posting a completely new message to correct an error.
Signatures - Please keep personal signatures limited to one image (not exceeding 600 pixels in width and 250 pixels in height, 600x250px).
User Accounts - Do not create new user accounts. Any changes to your existing account can be made by editing your profile. You may contact a moderator should you experience any problems.
SECTION IV: CONSEQUENCES FOR FAILING TO COMPLY (FIRST OFFENCE WILL LAST SIX MONTHS)
First Offence - Message is subject to editing and/or deletion. The Member will receive a Three (3) Day Suspension.
Second Offence - Message is subject to editing and/or deletion. The Member will receive a Seven (7) Day Suspension.
Third Offence - Message is subject to editing and/or deletion. The Member will be banned from the CPTDB.
SECTION V: MODERATOR GUIDELINES
Intelligent Conversation - Inspire and encourage intelligent conversation.
Impartiality - Ensure impartiality when dealing with member’s issues (moderators however are free to participate in the threads).
Validity - Check validity of statements made within the threads to the best of their ability or when a particular message has been reported.
Scope of Messages - Ensures that topics are of relevance and are within the scope of the initial post.
