351 White Rock Centre/Bridgeport Station TransLink Accessible bullet-b.png is a bus route operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Route Details

This is a north-south route connecting Richmond and White Rock. The route is a Frequent Transit Network (FTN) route between White Rock Centre and Bridgeport Station with service provided a minimum of 15 minutes apart, seven days a week for 15 hours or more.

Northbound trips depart from Vine Avenue & Anderson Street heading west on Vine Avenue becoming Anderson Street heading north, east on North Bluff Road, south on Oxford Street, east on Thrift Avenue, north on Johnston Road becoming 152 Street, west on King George Boulevard to South Surrey Park and Ride. Continuing from South Surrey Park and Ride, the route heads north on King George Boulevard and merges onto Highway 99, then takes the Ladner Trunk Road exit to service Matthews Exchange, returns onto Highway 99 and takes the Steveston Highway exit. It continues back onto Highway 99 and takes the Bridgeport Road exit and heads west on Bridgeport Road, north on Great Canadian Way to Bridgeport Station.

Southbound trips depart Bridgeport Station heading south on Great Canadian Way, east on Bridgeport Road, south on the bus lane on-ramp to access Highway 99 where it continues south and exits onto Ladner Trunk Road to make a stop before continuing onto Highway 99, taking the King George Boulevard exit into South Surrey Park and Ride. Continuing from South Surrey Park and Ride, the route heads south on King George Boulevard followed by 152 Street southbound, west on 16 Avenue, south on Oxford Street, and west on Vine Avenue to its terminus at & Vine Avenue & Anderson Street.

History

  • September 1975 - Service introduced as 351 North Bluff, running between the White Rock terminus at Johnston & North Bluff to Crescent Beach at Beecher & McBride[1]
  • October 1975 - Service merged with the 650 Deas Island[2]
  • August 1977 - Service extended to Vancouver to replace the 650 Deas Island as a more direct service between White Rock and Vancouver by eliminating the diversion the 650 took to Ladner Exchange[3]
  • May 1984 - Destination sign simplification: Service renamed from 351 North Bluff to 351 North Bluff/Vancouver[4]
  • April 1987 - Service to Matthews Exchange introduced to all northbound trips [5]
  • June 1987 - Southbound trips renamed from 351 North Bluff to 351 Crescent Beach[6]
  • April 1991 - Service revised to go via South Surrey Park & Ride[7]
  • October 1990 - Accessible service introduced using MCI TC40102N "Classic" units [8]
  • June 1998 - Southern terminus moved from Beecher & Sullivan to Sullivan Street at Kidd Road [9]
  • June 2000 - Southbound weekday evening service increased from every hour to every 30 minutes to address overcrowding
  • September 2000 - Operations moved from Oakridge Transit Centre to Richmond Transit Centre. Introduction of trips starting/ending at Steveston & Highway 99 and discontinuation of garage-bound trips to Oak & 41st[10]
  • August 2001 - New Orion V express bus coaches introduced[11]
  • June 2006 - New South Surrey Park & Ride opens for service[12]
  • September 2009 - Northbound terminus revised to Bridgeport Station instead of Burrard Station as service to Vancouver is discontinued following the introduction of the Canada Line.[13] The route joins the Frequent Transit Network service. Discontinuation of evening northbound and early morning southbound trips via Crescent Road and discontinuation of short-turn garage-bound trips at Steveston & Highway 99
  • December 2010 - All short-turn trips to White Rock Centre from Bridgeport Station revised to terminate at Oxford Street & Vine Street instead of Thrift Avenue & Johnston Road. Routing revised from Johnston, Thrift, Oxford, North Bluff, and 152nd to 152nd, North Bluff, Oxford to Vine, then Oxford, Thrift, Johnston, and 152nd[14]
  • September 2018 - Late night Crescent Beach trips between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. revised to terminate at 128 Street & Crescent Road due to bus-related noise complaints
  • December 31, 2018 - Introduction of two southbound trips terminating at South Surrey Park & Ride during the PM peak running as 351 S. Surrey Park & Ride
  • April 2019 - Service proposed to be shortened to run between White Rock Centre and Bridgeport Station using double-decker buses as part of a transit network realignment in the South Surrey/White Rock area involving the shortening of the 352 Ocean Park/Bridgeport Station from its Ocean Park terminus to White Rock Centre and the replacement of service between Crescent Beach and White Rock Centre with the 350 Crescent Beach/White Rock Centre, to be operated as a Community Shuttle service[15]
  • January 2020 - Discontinuation of all 351 S. Surrey Park & Ride trips
  • September 2020 - Double-decker buses introduced and service between Crescent Beach and White Rock Centre discontinued and replaced by the 350 Crescent Beach/White Rock Centre[16]
  • January 2021 - Late-night service daily increased from every hour to every 30 minutes; schedule adjusted to meet transfers with the 350
  • September 5, 2022 - White Rock Centre terminus revised to Vine Avenue & Anderson Street instead of Oxford Street & Vine Avenue. Northbound routing in White Rock was revised to go from the new terminus via Vine, Anderson, and North Bluff to 152 Street instead of via Oxford, Thrift, and Johnston to 152 Street. Service along Thrift Avenue and Johnston Road was discontinued. This adjustment is to provide closer washroom access for operators
  • September 8, 2022 - Revision to northbound routing in White Rock from the new Vine & Anderson terminus. Routing revised to service Thrift Avenue and Johnston Road and discontinued northbound service along North Bluff Road between Anderson Street and 152 Street
  • November 7, 2022 - Southbound routing revised to no longer take Sea Island Way. Service revised to use Bridgeport Road to access Highway 99 following the completion of the bus lane on-ramp
