The Alexander Dennis Pointer was a midibus body originally built by Plaxton almost exclusively on the Dennis Dart and Dart SLF chassis. The original Pointer body was a highfloor model on the Dart and Volvo B6 chassis. With the introducton of the Dart SLF chassis in 1995, the Pointer body was altered accordinly. Soon after, the body design was facelifted with a new lower front design and some other minor changes. This model was known as the Pointer 2. It was later available on the Volvo B6RLE.
When Plaxton became part of TransBus International, the Pointer 2 became a TransBus product and was renamed Pointer once again. The Pointer remained with Alexander Dennis until it was replaced by the Enviro200Dart.
The frame is made of high strength aluminum, and attatched to the chassis using Cromweld 3CR12 stainless steel.
