Bradford GO Station
|Address||251 Holland St. E., Bradford, ON|
Bradford GO Station is a GO Transit train station located in Bradford, ON. It is northeast of the intersection of Holland St. E., Bridge St. and Dissette St.
The main platform is located on the north/east side of the tracks, while the station building and parking lot are located on the west/south side of the tracks. Passengers are required to cross the tracks at designated crosswalks to access the platform.
The current station building was built by the Grand Trunk Railway around 1900 as part of a program to upgrade its station structures along what is now the Newmarket sub.
Bradford GO Station was the original terminus of the Bradford GO line since the beginning of GO service in 1982. It was used as the terminus until 2007, when GO service was extended to Barrie South.
The station platform was originally on the same side as the station. However, there were switches on both ends of the platform, plus the platform itself was on the outside of a curve (making it hard for the CSA to view the entire length of their train). With no room for expansion, GO built an additional platform on the opposite side of the tracks, so the train would be on the inside of the curve, and the platform could be extended to the normal 10 car length.
There is no local transit in Bradford, but GO buses connect on Bridge St. at the corner of Dissette St. 68A Bradford buses also end at this stop, and loop further west in Bradford.
