Brampton GO Station is a GO Transit train station located in Brampton, ON. It is located on the west side of Main St., north of Queen St. in Downtown Brampton.
The two station platforms are on the sides of the tracks, stretching from Mill St. east towards the Main St. overpass. The station building is located on the north platform. The Passenger Pick-up & Drop-off is located north of the station building, with the parking lot also on the north side, bounded by Mill Street, Church Street and Main Street. Underground walkways connect the east and west sides of both platforms to each other as well as Brampton Transit's Downtown Terminal, located on the south side of the tracks. GO buses serving the station do so at this terminal. GO tickets are sold in the station building during AM rush only; another ticket agent is available in the Downtown Transit Centre during other times.
Brampton Station was originally a former Grand Trunk Western station dating from the 1800's. Today, it is owned by VIA Rail Canada, and houses VIA and GO ticket booths as well as a dry cleaners and Gateway. The station is served by both GO and VIA trains on weekdays, and only VIA trains on weekends.
With the expansion of Brampton and increasing popularity of the station, parking was becoming an issue, and with no room to expand, GO opened Mount Pleasant GO Station in northwest Brampton in 2005.
Construction on a second platform on the south side of the tracks commenced in mid-2008, completed around November 2009. Among other improvements, elevator for accessibility and an additional underground tunnel to the west was added. Both platforms were extended to 12-car length in summer 2011.
Most buses make connections inside the neighbouring Downtown Terminal, although due to tight conditions, Main St. buses do not enter the terminal.
