Warden Station is a rapid transit stop and bus terminal owned and operated by the Toronto Transit Commission, located at 3276 St. Clair Avenue East. It is located on the southeast corner of the intersection with Warden Avenue.
History
Warden Station served as the eastern terminus of the Bloor-Danforth subway when it was extended into Scarborough in 1968. It opened to the public on May 11, 1968. The TTC still used zone fares at the time, but decided to make the whole subway system Zone 1 and have connecting buses outside of Zone 1 as Zone 2. Warden's bus terminal, like the other stations on the extension, was built outside of the fare paid area. It has since been incorporated into the fare paid area after the TTC abandoned fare zones within Metro Toronto. Kennedy Station replaced Warden as the eastern terminus when the Bloor-Danforth subway was extended in 1980.
