Voyageur Colonial Bus Lines

Voyageur Colonial Bus Lines (Voyageur) is an intercity bus company that served Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, primarily the cities of Montreal, Ottawa and Kingston.

The company still runs three bus lines under its own name (VCL). They are Montreal/Ottawa EXPRESS, Montreal/Ottawa (via Dorion/Hawkesbury) south of the Ottawa River and Montreal/Ottawa (via Lachute/Hawkesbury) north of the Ottawa River. It also retains ownership of the bus terminals in Ottawa and Montreal.

History

[1]

  • Incorporated on January 7, 1928 as Colonial Coach Lines Ltd.
  • In 1930, Colonial was purchased by the Provincial Transport Company.
  • In 1969, Colonial Coach Lines was officially renamed Voyageur Colonial Ltd.
  • CSL Equity Investments Inc., 50% owned by Paul Martin's family, sold Voyageur's bus routes to Greyhound Canada in 1998.
