The American Seating Premier is a joint product of American Seating and SafeGuard to offer a belted seat to improve safety. Launched in early 2009, the Premier uses SafeGaurd SmartFrame® technology, which offers even unbelted passengers frontal crash protection. The seat has a lap-shoulder belt that absorbs crash energy for the passenger. The outer seatback structure remains vertical to cushion a passenger in the seat behind who isn’t wearing a seat belt. The belts are available with height adjusters, and the seat can accommodate a child seat for a child under 40 lbs. The seat can also accomodate mobilty aids.

Options include 110-volt power outlet, electronic device chargers, seatback storage, cup holder, center fold-up armrest, self-storing footrest, slider seats equipped with auto-tensioning, under-seat aisle lighting, and integrated audio for use with standard headset.

The Premier was first made available on Prevost coaches and has since become available on other coaches in North America. Greyhound USA was one of the first to order coaches with these seats. This was in conjunction with their new identity.

A few years after the Premier's launch, American Seating introduced the Premier LS. It features improved seat cushion comfort, a thinner back and kick panels, as well as a reduced seat weight.
