Beyond Travels Inc. operated the Beyond Shuttle, a ride-sharing shuttle service running between Surrey, British Columbia and the University of British Columbia's Vancouver campus.

  • January 2016: company established[1]
  • June 2018: B-Shuttle service announced; original route connecting Commercial-Broadway Station and UBC's Vancouver campus proposed
  • September 2018: route revised to connect Surrey and UBC's Vancouver campus; service to Commercial-Broadway Station scrapped. Service commenced September 17th.
  • October 2018: service officially approved by TransLink for operation until December 31, 2019, by which it was to be re-evaluated by TransLink.[2] It was later renamed Beyond Shuttle to avoid any similarities to B-Line.
  • Operations appear to have ceased by late July or early August 2019 with website and Instagram inactive and vehicles listed for sale.[3] However, negative Facebook reviews dating back to February 2019 suggest they may have ceased operations then.

Service Details

The service ran from the intersection of 152 Street and Highway 10 in Surrey to the intersection of Walter Gage Road and Westbrook Mall in UBC, with a handful of stops serving other Surrey locations at 152 Street/72 Avenue, 144 Street/72 Avenue, 138 Street/72 Avenue, 128 Street,72 Avenue, 122 Street/72 Avenue, Scott Road/84 Avenue, and 112 Street/Avenue. The bus did not stop in other municipal jurisdictions besides UBC. It would have taken approximately 75 minutes to complete the trip using a route that runs on the Alex Fraser Bridge, Highway 91 and Highway 99 through Richmond, Oak Street Bridge, and Southwest Marine Drive in Vancouver. There were 12 round trips each weekday, with the service running hourly. The first westbound trip departed Surrey at 5:45 am, and the last trip was at 4:20 pm. For eastbound travel, the first trip departed UBC at 7:05 am and the last trip at 5:45 pm. [4] Trips were pre-booked using a mobile app[5] and cost $10 each way.[6] Riders were also able to track their bus within the app.
