The Blue Bird Envirobus 2000 was a concept school bus commissioned by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (a division of the Department of Energy). It was designed by members of the Southwest Research Institute with industry leaders including Blue Bird. The bus ran on compressed natural gas (CNG) and features innovative concepts such as a heads-up driver display which projected vehicle information onto the windshield, automotive radar devices to detect pedestrians and vehicles, and a global mapping system.

Its styling was quite different from the other buses Blue Bird produced. The majority of the body resembled the Q-Bus as it was squared with rounded edges. The front design was modern with a styling similar to the Ultra LF but with rectangular headlights.
