Cummins Westport ISX12 G
The Cummins Wesport ISX12 G is an 11.9-litre, six-cylinder inline natural gas engine for motorcoach, regional haul truck/tractor, vocational and refuse applications. It was launched in 2012 and went into production in early 2013.[1] The ISX12 G is based off of the diesel-fueled Cummins ISX12.
The ISX12 G may be fueled by compressed or liquefied natural gas, as well as renewable natural gas—derived from biogas or landfill gas. The engine features spark-ignited, stoichiometric combustion with cooled exhaust gas re-circulation. Like the Cummins Westport ISL G, the ISX12 G uses a three-way catalyst which works by introducing a catalyst to convert the nitrogen oxides to nitrogen gas and oxygen gas, carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide, and hydrocarbons to carbon dioxide and water.[2]
The ISX12 G meets the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resource Board (ARB) 2013 emissions standards, as well as the 2014 EPA greenhouse gas regulations.[1][3]
