Durham Region Transit (DRT) provides public transportation in the Regional Municipality of Durham, Ontario, Canada. DRT was formed in 2006 as a result of a merger of the Ajax Pickering Transit Authority, Oshawa Transit Commission, Clarington Transit, Whitby Transit, and their respective paratransit services.
DRT services all eight municipalities that make up the Regional Municipality of Durham Region. Services are divided by service type, area and vehicle availability across all three divisions.
- Raleigh Division provides service on DRT Pulse, On Demand Routes and Local routes in Oshawa and Clarington.
- Westney Division provides service for local routes in Ajax, Pickering, Oshawa, and Uxbridge.
- Wentworth Division provides service for local routes in Whitby, Brooklin, Uxbridge, Scugog, and Brock.
All three divisions equally share routes that operate across the entirety of the region.
DRT PULSE
DRT PULSE is DRT's bus rapid transit (BRT) brand. Since 2013, 900 PULSE Highway 2 has provided service along Highway 2 between Oshawa and Scarborough to approximately 2.5 million people annually. The service operates primarily on Highway 2 between Richmond/Ontario Streets in the east and Centennial Circle in the west. Most of the 900 PULSE Highway 2 route runs in mixed traffic. However, in the Town of Ajax, service operates in dedicated bus only lanes between 200m east of Salem Road to 100m west of Westney Road. In addition, in the City of Pickering dedicated bus lanes run between Bainbridge Drive and Brock Road, Glenanna Road and Glendale Drive, and Delta Boulevard and Steeple Hill. In each direction, about 4.5km of Dedicated bus only lanes are in place.
In 2020, Durham Region Transit expanded the DRT PULSE brand with the introduction of service on Simcoe Street on route 901 PULSE Simcoe. The service would directly replace route 401 Simcoe. Eight dedicated PULSE BRT vehicles were ordered to be used to the new service. This project also includes funding for further design work for higher order transit service on the Simcoe Street corridor.
As per "The Route Ahead" 2022-2025 Service Plan presented to Transit Executive Committee on September 8th 2021, the PULSE Rapid Bus network is set to expand in the coming years with Route 915 Taunton joining the network in 2022, Route 916 Rossland in 2023, and Route 902 King in 2024.
High Frequency Network
For more information on Durham Region Transit's High Frequency Network, please see Durham Region Transit High Frequency Network.
Durham Region Transit's High Frequency Network is a series of bus routes operating within Durham Region that operate at a consistent base frequency of 30 minutes or better, seven days a week. The High Frequency Network was established on September 4th, 2017, and is continuing to develop over the coming years.

Specialized Services and Demand Response
Specialized Services provides door-to-door transit service for temporarily or permanently disabled passengers who are not able to board conventional buses or walk 175 metres. Passengers must apply for the service and meet the eligibility criteria. They also have to reserve their trip and notify DRT in the event of a cancellation. Demand Response services provide travel windows that must be pre-booked via telephone, as service will otherwise not operate. Launched in 2017, on-demand routes operate in Scugog and Uxbridge as well as from Cannington to Lindsay and Beaverton to Orillia.

Divisions
This garage mainly serves mainly Oshawa and Clarington as well as the entire DRT Pulse service. The garage is located at 710 Raleigh Avenue in Oshawa. It is the same building used by the former Oshawa Transit Commission. This division was known as "East" prior to 2009. This facility is at capacity. Raleigh consists of two buildings, the storage facility that opened when OTC had begun operation, and the Maintenance facility that opened in 2017. Durham Region Transit is overhauling the Storage Facility and works should be complete by mid-2019.
DRT has a contract with Pacific Western to maintain vehicle operations for service in Whitby and in North Durham. This garage is located at 2095 Forbes Street in Whitby. This garage is also within vicinity to GO Transit's Oshawa Garage. Prior to January 1, 2017, services were operated by Trentway-Wagar Coach Lines utilizing the Victoria facility, located at 1559 Victoria Street East. Prior to 2009, Victoria division was referred to as "Central"
The facility is located at 110 Westney Road South, next to Ajax GO Station. This garage services vehicles running in Ajax and Pickering. It is the former Ajax Pickering Transit Authority and Ajax Transit garage. The yard was recently expanded at this garage. This resulted in a more organized facility with more space for new buses.
