East Lancashire Coachbuilders (colloguially known as East Lancs) was a builder of bus bodies founded in 1934 in Blackburn, England.[1]

On August 17 2007 East Lancs went into administration and was bought out by the Darwen Group founded by Jamesstan Investments' sole shareholder Roy Stanley. The Darwen Group rebranded the company as Darwen East Lancs. In March 2008, Optare was bought by Jamesstan Investments and the whole organization became known as Optare plc[2], thus keeping the prominent name. The former products of the Darwen group, which were those of East Lancs, became Optare products.[3]
