The Ford Motor Company Super Duty Chassis Cab is a heavy-duty pickup truck chassis used for cutaway commercial buses. It is available in three types: the F-450, F-550 and F-600, which are differentiated by their gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR); with the F-450 having the lowest GVWR and the F-600 having the highest. The Super Duty Chassis Cab is not to be confused with the unrelated Econoline van or medium-duty F-650 and F-750, both of which also carry Super Duty branding.
Design history
The Super Duty Chassis Cab was introduced in January 1998 for the 1999 model year when the heavy-duty F-Series pickups were spun off into their own line. With cutaway vehicles, the styling of the cab remains consistent regardless of the make and model of bus body.
As of October 2021, four generations of the Super Duty have been produced. The second and third generations of the Super Duty (introduced in 2007 and 2010 for the 2008 and 2011 model years, respectively) were merely substantial revisions of the first generation, while the fourth generation (introduced in 2016 for the 2017 model year) is an all-new design sharing no components with its predecessors.
The first three generations featured steel cabs, shared with Ford's seventh- and eighth-generation medium-duty trucks, while the fourth generation uses the same aluminum alloy cab as the F-150 and Super Duty light to mid-weight pickups.

Specifications
The Super Duty Chassis Cab was introduced with Ford gasoline engines and International diesel engines. In 2010, the International engines were phased out in favor of Ford's in-house diesel engine. Brazilian-produced variants of the Super Duty were equipped with Cummins engines and were also manufactured in right-hand drive for export to Australia and South Africa. Many of the gasoline engines powering the Super Duty have the capability to run on alternative fuels such as CNG and LPG (propane). The Super Duty can be equipped from the factory with rear-wheel or four-wheel drivetrains, although aftermarket front-wheel drive conversions exist and are used for applications such as the StarTrans Bus Senator SII LF. The F-600 model, boasting a 22,000 lb GVWR, was the most recent addition to the Super Duty lineup, having been introduced for the 2020 model year.
