GO Transit 2114-2137
GO Transit 2114-2137 were MCI D4500 buses acquired in January 2002. All models are 45 feet in length with seating for 57 individuals. All D4500s of this series are equipped with wheelchair lifts and have two wheelchair positions through seat adjustment.
A tender for the refurbishment of 49 buses was put out in February 2008. Eastway was awarded the contract and the buses began being refurbished later in 2008. The refurbishment included a mechanical overhaul and updating the livery to the livery introduced with the 2008 D4500CTs and Enviro500s.
The coaches were delivered with 57 seats. A fleet-wide removal of the row of seats beside the wheelchair access door took place in 2013 in an effort to expedite wheelchair loading. This row of seats had to slide forward on a track to make space for the wheelchair, however the track would frequently become clogged with debris and inhibit motion.
In 2012, Metrolinx awarded INIT a contract to equip the GO Transit fleet with intelligent transportation systems. These include computer aided dispatch, automatic vehicle location, on-board mobile data terminals, automatic passenger counting, next stop announcements, in-vehicle variable message signs, real-time vehicle diagnostics and interfaces to existing destination signs, bike rack sensors and wheelchair lift sensors. Installation took place in 2013.
