Georgetown GO Station is a GO Transit train station in located in Georgetown, ON. It is located north of King Street, between John St. and Mountainview Rd.
Trains are stored in a 4-track yard north of the main line. Two platforms are located between pairs of tracks, giving access to all 4 tracks. An underground passageway connects the middle of each platform to the station building south of the tracks. The bus stop is east of the stairwell on the south side, with the station building and VIA platform west of it. The parking lot extends south to King St. Tickets are available inside the station building from a ticket agent during AM rush hours only; otherwise, a Ticket Vending Machine is available.
History
The train station located at Georgetown was built in 1858 by the Grand Trunk Railway, and has been preserved by CN and VIA Rail. GO service began to Georgetown in April 1974, and it served as the terminus for the Georgetown line between 1974 and 1990, and from 1993 until 2011.
On December 18, 2011, two trains a day were extended westwards to Kitchener, and the line was subsequently renamed the Kitchener line. Georgetown still serves as the terminus and storage yard for 3 trains on the Kitchener Line.
