The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority or RTA is the public transit agency for Cleveland, Ohio and suburbs of Cuyahoga County.
History

Timeline
- 1975: The Cleveland Transit System was reorganized as the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority.
- 1980: An 18-month, $100mil renovation of the former Shaker Heights Rapid Transit system begins, upgrading it to today's light rail standards. Services are renamed the Blue (for the Van Aken Boulevard branch) and Green (for the Shaker Boulevard branch) lines. The new lines were inaugurated October 30, 1981.
- 1996: Waterfront Line begins service as an extension of the Blue and Green Lines.
- 2008: The HealthLine begins service as the RTA's first bus rapid transit service.
- 2014: Cleveland State Line begins service as the RTA's second bus rapid transit service.
- 2017: The MetroHealth Line begins service as the RTA's third bus rapid transit service.
