Halifax Transit route 18 'Universities' was a route that ran from the Lacewood Terminal in Clayton Park to south end Halifax, specifically servicing the major universities - Dalhousie University, Saint Mary's University and Mount Saint Vincent University. The route traveled via Flamingo Drive, Windsor Street and Robie Street, looping in the south end via Spring Garden Road, South Park Street, and Inglis Street.
The original route 18 Universities was quite different from the revised route; it did not service Lacewood Terminal, instead starting at Mount Saint Vincent University. Instead of servicing Windsor Street, it serviced Joeseph Howe Avenue and Mumford Terminal, Chebucto Road/North Street and Oxford Street to South Street. In addition, there was a single morning run beginning at the Bridge Terminal in Dartmouth to Mumford Terminal and Mount Saint Vincent University. The route 18 at this time ran hourly, Monday to Friday and only operated during the university calender year. It was revised to its last format in 2003.
