Route Details
This route is a heavily used corridor route. The route travels between the Scotia Square Bus Terminal in Downtown Halifax, to the Bridge Terminal in Dartmouth via the MacDonald Bridge. The route then travels up Portland Street towards Cole Harbour, terminating at the Portland Hills Terminal in Dartmouth. Since it is a corridor route, it runs with high frequency all day. The route was made as part of Halifax Transit's Moving Forward Together Program. It replaces service on Portland Street with the removal of the routes 59,61 and 68 from Portland.
History
The route 5 was implemented on November 21, 2021 as part of Halifax Transit's Moving Forward Together Program. Despite having the same number as former route 5 Chebucto, the route does not follow the same route
