Intercity Transit provides public transit service in Thurston County, Washington. Service is focused on the cities of Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, and Yelm. Fixed route, paratransit and vanpool services are operated.
In September 1980, the Thurston County Public Transportation Benefit Area was established, which would assume responsibility for transit service in Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, and Yelm on January 1, 1981. The business name would be known as Intercity Transit. In 1992, service would be expanded to include more of Thurston County following approval from voters to expand collection of sales taxes.[1]
In January 2020, Intercity Transit began a 5 year fare-free demonstration project.
