John Deere Power Systems 6068H
Manufacturer: John Deere Power Systems
Introduced: Late-1997
Discontinued: Mid-2003

The John Deere Power Systems 6068H was a compressed natural gas (CNG) engine developed and manufactured by John Deere Power Systems for on-highway applications. Major applications included Blue Bird & Thomas Built Buses school buses, as well as ElDorado National transit buses.

The engine was a scaled down variant of John Deere's larger 6081H engine, but was discontinued in 2003 due to poor sales, as the 6081H-250 engine was favored to the smaller 6068H-225 engine.

Construction

The 6068H features much the same construction as the larger 6081H, with a cast iron alloy, non-siamese bore engine block, cast iron slab-style 2-valve cylinder heads, centrifugal-cast wet liner cylinder liners, chill hardened cast iron crankshaft & camshaft, forged steel alloy I-beam taper top connecting rods, and electronic throttle control.
