Route History

The 64 was introduced in a restructure in September of 1998, to replace the deleted express variant of the 25 that ran on 65th St to Downtown Seattle.[2] The route initially travelled from Downtown Seattle to Jackson Park with 6 peak trips in each direction, but was later revised in 2003 to serve First Hill via 4th/5th Ave, Seneca St, and Boren Ave, partially replacing service on route 943. [3]

This variant of the 64 ran until the opening of the University of Washington Link station in March 2016, when the new route 63X would begin to run alongside the 64 during peak hours, and both would now travel via Fairview Ave and Boren Ave, providing more direct service to Jefferson St.[4] The route was also moved from North Base to Ryerson Base.

The last version of the route was revised in October 2021 with the opening of the Northgate Station, and the southern terminal was changed from First Hill to Belltown via Westlake Ave, with the northern terminal being changed from Jackson Park to Lake City.[5]

A year before the 64 was permanently deleted, it was suspended due to an operator shortage in 2023. In September 2024, the route was deleted, with service being covered by routes 62 and 65 .[6]
