London Transit Commission 401-436

London Transit Commission 401-436 were 2002 New Flyer D40i buses.

In the summer of 2008, all the buses in this series began receiving Cummins ISL engines due to reliability issues with the Detroit Diesel Series 40 engines.

In early autumn of 2009, the light assembly for the exterior advertising display behind the driver were removed from the buses as they were found to be the origin of fires. The first fire was minor, and occurred in July 2009 with bus 434. The cause could not be directly traced to the light assemblies when this series of buses was inspected after the incident. However similarities between that fire and the major fire that occurred in September 2009 with bus 439, were found to be similar and led officials to believe the light assemblies were the cause.^[1]
