Route details
Route 40 provided service between Masonville Place and the Northridge neighbourhood, serving Fanshawe Park Road East.
From Masonville Place, eastbound buses operated east on Fanshawe Park Road to McLean Drive.
From Fanshawe Park Road and McLean Drive, westbound buses operated south and west on McLean Drive, southwest and west on Glenora Drive, north on Adelaide Street, and west on Fanshawe Park Road to Masonville Place. During evenings and on Sundays, trips were interlined with route 34 at Masonville Place. However, one trip on Sundays interlined from route 16.
The first and last trip of the day additionally provided service along Grenfell Drive and Phillbrook Drive in place of regular service on route 25. These two trips were interlined with route 13 at Masonville Place.
From Fanshawe Park Road and Adelaide Street, the first trip of the day operated east on Fanshawe Park Road, south and west on McLean Drive, southwest and west on Glenora Drive, north on Adelaide Street, east on Fanshawe Park Road, north on Trossacks Avenue, west on Grenfell Drive, west and southwest on Phillbrook Drive, and west on Fanshawe Park Road to Masonville Place. Upon arrival at Masonville Place, this trip interlined to route 13.
Interlining from route 13 at Masonville Place, the last trip of the day operated east on Fanshawe Park Road, north and northeast on Phillbrook Drive, east on Grenfell Drive, south on Trossacks Avenue, east on Fanshawe Park Road, south and west on McLean Drive, southwest and west on Glenora Drive, and north on Adelaide Street to Fanshawe Park Road.
