Major Mackenzie is a vivastation located at the intersection of Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive in Richmond Hill, ON.

At approximately 4,290 passengers on an average weekday, Major Mackenzie is the 5th busiest transit passenger loading location in the YRT/Viva network according to the 2013 Transportation Fact Book. This is an increase from approximately 1,370 weekday passengers from the 2011 Transportation Fact Book.

Basic

Northbound:

• Located on Yonge Street just south of Major Mackenzie Drive East, the station consists of a black fare machine and a heritage-themed shelter. Its stop number is 9783.

Southbound:

• Located on Yonge Street south of Major Mackenzie Drive West, the station consists of a blue fare machine and a heritage-themed shelter. Its stop number is 9784.

History

Major Mackenzie opened on September 4, 2005 as part of Viva phase 1. It has only ever served Viva Blue.

The signage on the station has a minor spelling mistake; while the name of the road is Major Mackenzie, the signage states Major MacKenzie.

Due to construction of the Yonge Street Rapidway, the southbound stop was moved back from the roadway in 2018. The black fare machine was replaced with a generic blue machine at this time. The northbound stop currently remained in the same location.

On December 20, 2020, rapidway service at the Major Mackenzie VIVAstation began, with both stops located south of the Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive intersection.
