The following is a list of bus depots used by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

  • Originally a taxi garage
  • Transferred to the city in 1962 upon MaBSTOA's takeover of Fifth Avenue Coach Lines
  • Closed in 1971, replaced by Hudson Pier Depot
  • Structure razed
54 Street 806 9th Ave., New York, NY 10019 Manhattan, NYCT
  • Originally a streetcar barn from the 1800s, converted into a bus depot by the Fifth Avenue Coach Company in 1935
  • Later transferred to the city in 1962 upon MaBSTOA's takeover of Fifth Avenue Coach Lines
  • Closed in 1992, replaced by rebuilt Manhattanville Depot, since razed
  • Site now holds the NYCT Rail Command Center and a parking lot
126 Street 2460 2nd Ave., New York, NY 10035 Manhattan, NYCT
  • Permanently closed in January 2015 because a historical African-American Burial Ground was found on the site of the depot.[1] All bus operations were ultimately distributed between Tuskegee Airmen, Michael J. Quill, Manhattanville, and Mother Clara Hale Depots.

  • Replaced an older Crosstown Depot used for streetcars
  • Built from 1946-1949 to hold streetcars and trolleybuses, only housed buses and trolleybuses after 1954
  • Closed in 1981 because of service reductions
  • Has since served as a site to store and paint buses, and most recently to house Access-a-ride paratransit vehicles
Edgewater Edgewater St., Staten Island, NY 10305 Staten Island, NYCT
  • Opened in 1977 to reduce crowding at the Castleton Depot but was damamged in 1978, reopened in 1983
  • The depot was closed down because of structural issues in 1985 following a 1983 incident in which multiple buses loaned from WMATA fell into the water.

  • Housed on a former ship pier, opened in 1972, replaced the 12th Street Depot
  • Closed in 2003, having been replaced by the Tuskegee Airmen (Then 100th Street) and Michael J Quill Depots

  • Former warehouse, opened as a bus depot in 1983 to replace the West Farms Depot (1st) and to reduce crowding at the Coliseum and Kingsbridge Depots
  • Closed in 1993, replaced by rebuilt Kingsbridge Depot
  • Reopened in 1995 to replace the Coliseum Depot (now West Farms Depot (2nd))
  • Closed again in 1998, replaced by the Michael J Quill Depot
  • Structure razed
