Mississauga Transit 0801-0844

MiWay 0801-0844 are New Flyer D40LFR buses built in 2008.

In January 2008, a tender was issued for the supply and delivery of 68 40' diesel buses. New Flyer, Nova Bus, and Orion responded to the tender as follows:

With New Flyer having the lowest bid, they were awarded the contract. One additional bus was added to the order to replace a bus previously retired due to a fire, bringing the total order to 69 buses. Fleet numbers were divided into two groups: 0801-0844 and 0901-0925.

Delivery began in June 2008, and the buses began entering service on July 18, 2008. All buses were initially delivered to MTB Truck and Bus Collision in Milton, ON for relocation of the Maxi-Brake. Upon entering service, these buses replaced most of 9101-9140, 9201-9210 and 9301-9312, with the rest of the buses expanding the fleet.

In 2019, all MiWay D40LFR buses had the seating layout in the low floor section modified in order to provide a larger area for mobility devices and increase standing capacity. Beginning in 2022, all buses in the MiWay fleet had unprotected forward facing seats blocked off or removed. These changes reduced the seating capacity from 37 to 32 seats.
