MiWay 1001-1020
MiWay 1001-1020 are Orion 07.501 EPA 2010 buses built in 2010.
In June 2009, a tender was issued for the supply of 20 40' BRT diesel buses. New Flyer, Nova Bus, and Orion responded to the tender as follows:
With Orion having the lowest bid, they were awarded the contract in September 2009. Delivery began in July 2010, and the buses began entering service on October 4, 2010.
These buses feature Orion's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) exterior styling, which consists of a more streamlined destination sign enclosure and roof fairings extending from the front to rear of the bus.
The interior features 38 4ONE Aries passenger seats with Holdsworth Fabrics CAA321 "Cream/blue sixties" fabric. Individual reading lights and power outlets are located throughout the interior. A folding wheelchair ramp is located at the front door of the bus. Rear doors are passenger operated utilizing Vapor's vTouch system. All Windows are flush mounted and of the tip-in transom design manufactured by Hehr. Heating, ventilation, and cooling are provided by a roof-mounted Thermo King Athenia unit.
MiWay specified Voith or ZF transmissions in their tender. Due to the delivery timeframe requested, it was uncertain if Voith could deliver their latest model, therefore the buses were ordered with the new ZF 6AP1400B transmission which debuted with the EPA 2010 engines. However, 1020 was delivered with the Voith D864.5 transmission.
