MiWay 1101-1143
MiWay 1101-1143 are New Flyer XD40 buses built in 2011.
In October 2010, a tender was issued for the supply of 35 40' low floor diesel buses, with options for 8 additional buses. New Flyer, Nova Bus, and Orion responded to the tender as follows:
- New Flyer Industries - $18,063,000 plus HST
- Orion - $18,103,000 plus HST
- Nova Bus - $20,951,961 plus HST
With New Flyer having the lowest bid, they were awarded the contract in January 2011. Delivery began in June 2011, and the buses began entering service on November 1, 2011. Upon entering service, these buses replaced 9701-9735, with the remaining 8 buses expanding the fleet.
The interior features 33 4ONE Mariella passenger seats with Holdsworth Fabrics grey-base Wiggles & Rings moquette. A folding wheelchair ramp is located at the front door of the bus. Rear doors are passenger operated utilizing Vapor's CLASS sensing system. All windows are flush mounted and of the tip-in transom design manufactured by Arow Global. Heating, ventilation, and cooling are provided by a roof-mounted Thermo King unit.
Beginning in 2022, all buses in the MiWay fleet had unprotected forward facing seats blocked off or removed. These changes reduced the seating capacity from 33 to 31 seats.
