The only New Flyer Industries E40LF in existence is TransLink 2101, the prototype trolleybus model by New Flyer Industries. This bus is operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company. 2101, serial 27865, was unveiled in a public ceremony on July 20, 2005 at Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC.
On October 29, 2003, TransLink board of directors voted unanimously on to award the contract for 228 trolley buses to New Flyer to be delivered in 2005 and 2006. These new buses were to sport a restyled look which later became New Flyer's Restyled option.
