New Jersey Transit 16001-16003 are 2016 MCI D4500CT buses. These buses are the demo buses of a six-year contract between MCI and NJT.

History
Deliveries History
These three buses are the pilot buses for a large order of coaches from Motor Coach Industries. Motor Coach Industries was the most qualified bidder of the three companies that submitted proposals; Prevost Car and ABC Bus (Van Hool) were the other two. Over the years, NJ Transit has had more than 3000 MCI coaches as part of its fleet, purchasing new since 1982.
Movement History
16002, originally assigned to Academy Bus Lines, was relegated to a training bus in NJT colors at CMF.
16001 and 16003 were originally assigned to Egg Harbor Garage. 16003 was later reassigned to Washington Township, but was involved in an accident and subsequently retired. 16001 was reassigned to Wayne Garage in 2023.
