New Jersey Transit 4004-4007 are 2002-2003 MCI D4000 hybrid buses.
These were the first demos for cruiser-style hybrid buses, having tested transit buses in the past (Orion and Nova Bus). NJT would not execute a major deployment of these type of buses until 2015, when the agency purchased 37 MCI D4500CTH units. The buses were retired in 2018 when Ironbound Garage received the 2015 hybrids.
