New Jersey Transit 6001-6002 were MCI MC-8 coaches. They were originally delivered to Northern Transit.
In the early years of New Jersey Transit, many second-hand coaches were purchased to provide service until a new fleet of custom-built cruiser buses were delivered (6100-6799). The used buses were repainted into the standard NJ Transit livery of the time, featuring diagonal blue, purple and orange stripes.
