Howell is one of the New Jersey Transit's 18 depots. It mainly handles commuter routes going into New York and mainly serves the Perth Amboy, Lakewood and Freehold areas. It replaced the old Union City Garage in 1985. Its also the only garage that can hold CNG buses.
