Nippon Sharyo is a rolling stock manufacturer based in Nagoya, Japan. The company was founded in September 1896 and has grown to over 1800 employees globally. Nippon Sharyo formed an American subsidiary in 1982 and built their first vehicles for the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District. In July 2012, Nippon Sharyo opened their first North American facility in Rochelle, Illinois. This allowed them to better meet "Buy America" requirements.
