Route 136 was a bus route that was operated by OC Transpo in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Route Details
Route 136 was a peak period route that operated from southern Orleans to Place d'Orleans station.
History
September 5th, 1995
- Will operate in two directions as shown in the accompanying map. Travel time to/from Place d'Orleans will be reduced for many passengers, and there will be improved access to local High Schools.
- Until Valin and Portobello are available for buses in 1996, Route 136 Will travel via Orchardview.
April 6th, 1997
- Changed to travel via Centrum instead of St. Joseph.
September 3rd, 2000
- Will be extended from Valin to operate in a one-way, clockwise loop around Charlemagne, Watters and Varennes to provide service to that developing residential area.
- From Gardenway, route will travel directly to Place d’Orléans via Tenth Line instead of via Bottriell as originally proposed, due to concerns from residents.
- Service along Charlemagne will be provided by new Route 130 described above.
- Route 136 will provide a fast and direct route from Place d’Orléans to Sir Wilfrid Laurier H.S., the Ray Friel Centre, Fallingbrook Mall, and commercial developments at the corner of Tenth Line and Des Epinettes.
September 1st, 2002
- Service will travel northbound on Tenth Line, instead of Old Tenth Line.
January 4th, 2004
- Scheduled to change for January 2004 but has been delayed until the spring. Although the printed timetable shows the new routing, buses will remain on their current pattern until Portobello is available.
June 27th, 2004
- No weekend service before 9 AM and no Sunday service after 7 PM. Alternate service is available on Routes 130 and 135. This was due to major budget cuts in the city’s operating budget.
September 4th, 2004
- No weekend service. Alternative service provided by Route 130 and revised Route 135. This was due to major budget cuts in the city’s operating budget.
September 5th, 2005
- Will be extended to serve the growing residential area along Trim and Valin.
- Route will follow its current pattern to Trim and Portobello, continue south on Trim, then via Valin to Portobello and its regular routing. This extension will provide all-day service to new areas south of Trim and Portobello and reduce walking distances for residents.
- Service will be removed from a small section of Portobello, between Trim and Valin.
June 25th, 2006
- Saturday service will be introduced in order to meet the increased demand for service from developing areas.
- On Saturdays, route will follow its normal Monday to Friday routing.
September 2nd, 2007
- Will be expanded to operate on Sundays along the same routing as weekdays and Saturdays, from 10 AM to midnight.
- Will have an early morning trip added on weekdays and Saturdays.
August 31st, 2008
- Route will be renamed Fallingbrook instead of Local South, and Place d’Orléans instead of Orléans.
September 6th, 2009
- Route is shortened and changed to begin operating Monday to Saturday along Tenth Line south to the Blackburn Bypass at Lakeridge, where it connects with new Route 120.
September 4th, 2011
- Will be reduced to operate in peak periods only, from 7:30 AM to 9 AM. and 3 PM to 7 PM, with service in both directions.
- Saturday service will be cancelled.
- Alternative service options include Routes 131 and 135.
April 24th, 2016
- The last weekday trip northbound is cancelled due to low ridership.
December 24th, 2017
- Route is cancelled and replaced by Route 234 and new Route 236.
- School trips will be renumbered as Route 636.
