Route 4 was a bus route operated by OC Transpo in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Route Details
Route 4 was a mainline regular route that ran between Carleton University and Downtown to Rideau Centre. It provided a convenient connection between downtown and Carleton University.
History
April 7th, 1996
- Will have reduced early morning service.
June 22nd, 1997
- Route is revised to travel southbound via Riverside replacing a portion of Route 118.
- Route now serves Heron Park during peak periods replacing Route 197.
January 3rd, 1999
- Will serve Carleton University Campus weekday evenings in both directions starting Monday, January 4th.
August 29th, 1999
- Route is extended to serve Hurdman station in addition to serving Carleton U, effectively replacing Route 19.
- Route no longer serves Heron Park during peak periods. Peak period service is replaced by Route 5.
- No longer deviates onto Riverside allowing for a more direct connection to Billings Bridge station.
- Service along Riverside is replaced by revised Route 175.
September 2nd, 2001
- Morning school trips are adjusted to operate via St. Patrick, Cobourg, Old St. Patrick to the school.
- Route will be on detour to allow for construction along Library Road. Route will travel on Sunnyside, University and Campus to regular route.
June 23rd, 2002
- At the request of the University, the route will be removed from Library Road. Route will travel via Sunnyside, University and Campus to regular route.
September 5th, 2004
- Will end at the Rideau Centre and accessible articulated buses will be used to better accommodate Carleton students.
- Service in Lowertown and Rockcliffe will be provided by Route 1.
September 5th, 2005
- At the request of the University, the route will be rerouted to travel in the opposite direction through the Campus via Sunnyside, Campus, then University Drive.
- New bus stops will be installed for convenient access to Campus destinations and the O-Train.
September 2nd, 2007
- Will mainly use regular low-floor buses instead of the larger articulated buses and the frequency will be increased to avoid overcrowding.
September 4th, 2011
- Was revised to operate along Bronson north of the Queensway instead of Bank Street, replacing Route 85, and along Queen Street instead of Wellington, replacing Routes 3 and 18.
- Service frequency in the mid-day was increased for improved connections.
- Route will continue to provide a link between Carleton University and downtown as well as Hurdman Station.
- The intercity bus station on Catherine will continue to be served by Routes 101 and 102 westbound and by Routes 1 and 7 nearby on Bank Street, which provide a connection to downtown.
September 1st, 2013
- Busy trips/runs now being Double Decker buses.
September 6th, 2015
- Some extra trips to/from Carleton will run as Route 129 trips. Some trip times will shift by a few minutes
December 20th, 2015
- Ends at Carleton University and no longer travels to Billings Bridge or Hurdman Stations.
- New Route 104 travels from Carleton University to Orléans via Billings Bridge and Hurdman.
December 25th, 2016
- Route is re-branded as a frequent route from a regular route.
September 2nd, 2018
- Route is renumbered to new frequent Route 10 in preparations for the launch of the O-Train Confederation Line in 2018.
