Pacific Greyhound Lines

Pacific Greyhound Lines, Western Greyhound Lines, or Greyhound Lines West was a subsidary of Greyhound Lines in the west coast of the United States.

Commute service was provided between the North Bay, East Bay, Peninsula (and San Jose), and San Francisco. Commute service was also provided in southern California.

History

  • Active as Pacific Greyhound Lines by 1935 to 1957
  • Renamed Western Greyhound Lines from 1957 to 1960
  • Renamed to Greyhound Lines West from 1960 onwards
  • CPUC allows fare increases for East Bay routes with provision that busses have AC.
  • East Bay commute service ended c. 1973 with the opening of BART
  • Santa Monica - Long Beach service ended, 1974

Northern California Commute Routes

Peninsula Commute Routes

Service area transferred to SamTrans. Certain routes, such as route B, became the basis of the SamTrans network.

Routes were transferred in July 1977.

Greyhound TDM-5303s in samTrans livery (sans titles) were operated on the commute routes from 1976-1977. From July 1977 onward, samTrans titles were added.[2]
