Red Deer Transit 506 & 509 were 1988 model New Flyer D40 buses built in 1989. They were originally built for AC Transit. They were purchased at auction by Capital Bus Parts in St. Romuald, QC and were sold to Autocars Québec in 2004. Afterward they were sold to Ville de Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, where they briefly operated before being sold to Red Deer Transit later in 2004.
