Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) provides transit service to the Roaring Fork valley in west-central Colorado, with a main focus on the city of Aspen. The agency also serves such areas as Basalt, El Jebel, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, Rifle, and New Castle.
RFTA's operation dates back to 1983. It is the second-largest transit operation in the state of Colorado, and one of the largest "rural" transit systems in the United States.
